Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening its relationship with the United Kingdom (UK).
Sanwo-Olu gave the assurance during a courtesy visit to him by Mr David Lammy, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, UK.
The courtesy visit took place at the Lagos House, Marina, on Monday.
“Our hope is that during your tenure, we will be able to deepen ties, we will actually improve upon it,” the governor said.
Sanwo-Olu said that the state government was committed to improving security and safety.
He added that the government was determined to make Lagos more favourable for trade and investment.
Sanwo-Olu said that it was important to build partnerships.
“Let me welcome you formally to Lagos, the commercial nerve centre of our country,” Sanwo-Olu said.
Sanwo-Olu added that Lagos played a critical role in advancing economic potential of Nigeria.
Earlier, Lammy thanked residents of Lagos State for their hospitality and friendship.
“Lagos is a hub not just for Nigeria but West Africa. I know lots of families here have relatives in the UK,” he said.
He commended the Sanwo-Olu-led administration for establishing the Blue Line Rail and the Red Line Rail.
Lammy expressed optimism for a deeper relationship between Lagos and the UK.
