Lagos Taskforce Arrests 4 Hawkers, Seizes 2000 Litres of Petroleum

The Lagos State Taskforce on Environment and Special Offences has apprehended four individuals involved in the illegal sale of petroleum products in the Mile-2 area, confiscating over 2000 litres of fuel. This was disclosed in a statement issued by the agency’s spokesperson, Mr. Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, on Tuesday.

According to Abdulraheem, the raid was conducted to prevent potential fire outbreaks and ease traffic congestion caused by the illegal sale of fuel along the roadside. He highlighted that the structures where these products were sold also harbored suspected criminals who posed threats to motorists and road users, particularly during late hours.

“This dangerous practice not only endangers lives but also obstructs traffic flow in the area. The illegal sale of fuel must be eradicated to avoid future disasters,” Abdulraheem stated.

The operation was carried out under directives from the Lagos State Government and the Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade. The spokesperson confirmed that those arrested will face prosecution, and the seized items will be forfeited to the state.

Abdulraheem assured that the taskforce would maintain surveillance in the area to prevent the resurgence of these activities and ensure the safety of road users.
