Ariyo Oluwaferanmi Mariam, a 400-level Biochemistry student at Lagos State University (LASU), has emerged as the winner of the 6th edition of the Miss Eko International pageant.

The prestigious event, held at the Lagos Oriental Hotel in Victoria Island, brought together contestants from across Lagos State, with Mariam proudly representing Agege Local Government.

Beyond the glitz of the crown, Mariam—also a fashion model and entrepreneur—used the platform to unveil her pet project titled “Eko for ECO”, an initiative aimed at promoting environmental sustainability across Lagos.

“I am thrilled to take on this new role and contribute to the betterment of our environment,” she said moments after her coronation.

The Eko for ECO project is set to launch in September 2025, focusing on waste reduction, green living education, and environmental awareness campaigns in local communities.

Organisers of the pageant, Ivory Forte Entertainment, led by CEO Egbe Emmanuel, praised Mariam’s commitment to social impact.

“Her passion for environmental sustainability is inspiring, and we look forward to supporting her in all her endeavours,” Emmanuel stated.

With this win, Mariam joins the ranks of young changemakers using pageantry not just as a platform for beauty, but for purpose-driven advocacy.
