LASUSTECH Dismisses Three Lecturers Over Sexual Harassment Allegations
The Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) has dismissed three lecturers following allegations of sexual harassment.
The affected staff members include Mr. Nurudeen Hassan from the Department of Mass Communication, and Mr. Kareem Arigbabu and Mr. Olayinka Uthman from the Department of Arts & Design.
According to a memo titled “Dismissal of Staff Members Due to Sexual Harassment Allegations,” the decision was approved by the university’s Governing Council after a thorough investigation. The council acted in line with Section 5.5.2(v) of the University Senior Staff Conditions of Service.
“The Governing Council of LASUSTECH has taken decisive action in response to the allegations involving three staff members. After due deliberation, the council approved their immediate dismissal,” the statement read.
The university emphasized its commitment to upholding integrity and creating a safe learning environment.
“The university takes all allegations of sexual harassment seriously. Such misconduct undermines the institution’s reputation and disrupts the academic atmosphere,” the memo added.
Confirming the dismissal, the university’s Public Relations Officer, Olanrewaju Kuye, said, “Yes, the three staff members were dismissed. All procedures were followed, including issuing queries before the final decision.”
