Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Natasha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has revealed why she chose to host her Guinness World Record (GWR) attempt for the most makeovers in 24 hours in Nigeria instead of the United Kingdom.

Speaking during a short break at her Tacha Beauty Festival, currently taking place at the John Randle Centre for Yorùbá Culture & History in Lagos, the reality star said the move was inspired by her desire to showcase Nigeria’s beauty industry to the world.

According to Tacha, the event was initially planned for London with a sponsorship offer from an international beauty brand, NYX, but she opted to bring it home to connect with her people and create a more authentic atmosphere.

“The plan was London. We already had a brand that wanted to sponsor us, NYX. But I said, London is not the country that will give me the vibe I want. My people are here, and it makes sense to carry your country along,” she said.

“At this point, I’m putting the Nigerian beauty industry on a freaking global map.”

Tacha added that the world record attempt has been two years in the making, and now is the perfect time to bring her vision to life.

The media personality began her 24-hour makeover marathon on Saturday night, aiming to complete 150 makeovers within the period. By early Sunday morning, she had already achieved 115 makeovers in 12 hours, surpassing the previous record of 113 makeovers in 24 hours.

The event continues amid excitement and support from fans and fellow beauty enthusiasts, with many celebrating her determination to highlight Nigerian talent on the international stage.
