Honourable Khamisu Ahmed Mailantarki, a prominent stalwart of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State and current Vice President of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF), was a key attendee at the party’s National Elective Congress successfully held in Ibadan over the weekend.

The Congress, which held at the capital of Oyo State, ran for two days, on Saturday, November 15, and Sunday, November 16, 2025, concluded with the election of new national officers, including the emergence of Tanimu Turaki as the new National Chairman.

Hon. Mailantarki’s presence at the crucial congress stresses his commitment to the party’s renewed structure ahead of the 2027 general elections. The former member of the House of Representatives is aspiring to contest the 2027 Gubernatorial elections in Gombe State.

Mailantarki, who previously contested the Gubernatorial seat in the 2023 election under the platform of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), is now expected to pursue his ambition under the PDP.

Speaking after the Congress, Hon. Mailantarki expressed strong confidence that the party will “come out stronger” following the successful and transparent elective process.

The PDP holds significant political history and social welfare legacy in Gombe State, having meritoriously steered the affairs of the state for 16 years (2003 – 2019).

For many in Gombe, the successful reorganization of the party at the national level coupled with Mailantarki’s track record in youth development initiatives through sports, agriculture, and housing positions him as a pivotal figure in driving this comeback and restoring what they term the “golden glories of capital development, Social Welfare and youth empowerment” to the state.
