Manchester United are nearing a deal to sign Wolves forward Matheus Cunha as the club looks to bolster its attacking options ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to Mail Sport, the Red Devils are interested in activating the Brazilian’s £62.5 million release clause but have yet to trigger the formal buyout.

United’s new manager, Ruben Amorim, is said to have already initiated talks with Cunha, 25. The pair were reportedly seen in conversation at Molineux and again at Old Trafford during Wolves’ 1-0 victory over United at the weekend.

However, United may face competition from Newcastle United, with manager Eddie Howe eyeing Cunha as a potential support option for Alexander Isak on the left wing.

Cunha has been a standout performer for Wolves this season, drawing attention from several top Premier League sides with his versatility and creativity in attack.

Meanwhile, Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap is also on Amorim’s radar. The 21-year-old, who has netted 12 goals in his debut Premier League season, is expected to be available for around £30 million if Ipswich are relegated.

United are expected to make major squad changes this summer, and Cunha remains one of their top targets as they seek a return to top-flight dominance.
