Massive Fire Engulfs Lagos Warehouse, Destroys Goods Worth Millions
A devastating fire broke out at a factory warehouse in Lagos on Friday, causing extensive damage to goods estimated to be worth millions of naira. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) announced the incident, which occurred at the Josien Factory Warehouse in Abule Osun, Lagos State.
Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, reported that the agency received a distress call through its toll-free lines at 8:28 a.m. Responding promptly, the Dolphin Response Team from the Igando Base was dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, responders found the warehouse, which stored diapers, solar batteries, foreign charcoal, and massaging seats, engulfed in flames. The immediate cause of the fire remains unknown, as the warehouse was locked at the time of the incident.
Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported since the building was unoccupied during the fire. Safety measures were promptly activated to protect the responders at the scene.
LASEMA, in collaboration with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue officials, coordinated efforts to tackle the blaze. Despite the destruction of goods worth millions, a significant quantity was salvaged by the response team.
Strategic and collaborative efforts successfully contained the fire, preventing it from spreading to adjacent warehouses. The situation has been brought under control, with dampening down operations and recovery efforts currently ongoing.
