The Military Pensions Board (MPB) has dissociated itself from a WhatsApp group fraudulently created in its name, cautioning pensioners and the public against engaging with it.
In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, the Board’s Public Relations Officer, Sqn. Ldr. Aliyu Mohammed, said the group titled Military Pensions Board (MPB) was set up by unknown individuals and does not represent the position of the board.
Mohammed stressed that the MPB had not established any WhatsApp platform for pensioners or veterans, describing those behind such groups as fraudulent elements.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the MPB communicates with pensioners and stakeholders strictly through its official social media handles, press releases, official statements and recognized communication channels,” he said.
He assured pensioners that their welfare remains the board’s utmost priority and urged them to always seek clarification through official contacts whenever in doubt.
