At least 10 people have died, and five others are injured following a tragic mine collapse in Zambia’s Mumbwa district, according to police reports.
The incident took place Monday morning as workers were carrying out mining activities when the ground unexpectedly gave way.
Central Police Commissioner Charity Munganga Chanda confirmed the collapse, stating that rescue teams initially pulled six people from the debris, but one miner later died in the hospital from injuries.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the accident while rescue operations continue.
