Minister of State for Youth Development, Mr. Olawande Ayodele, has urged Nigerian youths not to let social media content incite violence. Ayodele made this appeal in Abuja during a visit by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors of Nigeria, led by veteran Nollywood actor Zack Orji.
Ayodele stated that much of the social media content is misinformation spread by politicians to discredit President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. He emphasized the importance of critical thinking and advised against using social media platforms to destabilize the country.
“We are pleading with everyone to ensure that social media is not used to disrupt the government and the country. You have the right to protest, but it is essential to research and engage in dialogue with the government, which is a listening one,” Ayodele said.
Ayodele highlighted several initiatives by the Tinubu administration, including a 130% increase in the minimum wage, the disbursement of 10 billion naira for CNG buses, and a 35 billion naira student loan program.
Zack Orji warned that the planned protests could lead to widespread unrest and instability, impacting economic growth and public services. He urged citizens to consider the consequences and seek constructive avenues for change.
The Renewed Hope Ambassadors have launched the “Jagaban Will Fix It Nigeria Project,” aiming to address concerns through dialogue and capacity-building initiatives, reaching 100 communities and empowering 5,000 individuals. Orji called for unity and meaningful solutions instead of protests.
