Miss Anambra, Onyinyechi Basil, Crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2025 in Glamorous Finale
Onyinyechi Basil, representing Anambra State, has emerged winner of Miss Universe Nigeria 2025 following a dazzling grand finale held in Lagos on Saturday night.
Basil clinched the crown after an intense final showdown with Miss Lagos, Damilola Bolarinde, who finished as the first runner-up. Miss Bayelsa, Fortune Kurobo, came third, while Miss Ogun, Irene Ikediashi, placed fourth.
Miss Akwa Ibom, Idah Eno, also made the top five and was crowned Miss Supranational Nigeria 2025, earning her the opportunity to represent Nigeria at the global Miss Supranational pageant.
Out of 22 contestants who began the journey, only 10 advanced to the finals. They included:
- Miss Delta – De-Blessing Asaboro
- Miss Ekiti – Ezekiel Silver
- Miss Imo – Chukwukereobi Chinaza
- Miss Ebonyi – Ugoaru Onuoha
- Miss Oyo – Lagoke Funmike
Although they didn’t make the top five, their performances were widely applauded.
The finale was a vibrant celebration of Nigerian culture, fashion, and female empowerment. Contestants wowed the audience during the traditional attire segment, showcasing locally inspired designs fused with modern flair.
The swimwear round emphasized body confidence and inclusivity, while electrifying dance performances opened the night, setting a high-energy tone for the event.
According to official voting statistics released by the Miss Universe Nigeria franchise:
- Miss Delta, De-Blessing Asaboro, topped the poll with 38,319 votes
- Miss Lagos, Damilola Bolarinde – 34,033 votes
- Miss Ekiti, Ezekiel Silver – 28,074 votes
The strong voter turnout reflected massive public engagement both online and offline.
Basil succeeds Chidinma Adetshina, Miss Universe Nigeria 2024, and will now prepare to represent Nigeria at the global Miss Universe pageant later this year.
The event, hosted by Anthony Abraham and Victory Wilson, drew a large crowd and trended widely on social media platforms, with fans closely following every moment of the competition.
