Moderate Earthquake Strikes Northeastern Iran, Injures 2

A moderate earthquake struck the Roshtkhar district of Iran’s northeastern Razavi Khorasan province early Thursday, injuring two people, according to local emergency officials.

The quake occurred at 5:10 a.m. local time, with tremors felt strongly in the nearby city of Mashhad and surrounding districts. The injured were transported to a medical facility for treatment, said Masoud Yavari, Director General of the province’s Emergency Situations Department.

According to the National Seismological Center at Tehran University’s Institute of Geophysics, the earthquake’s epicenter was located 12 kilometers from Roshtkhar city and occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers.

No fatalities have been reported, and authorities continue to monitor the situation for any further damage or aftershocks.
