Financial services firm Mogo has disbursed Sh1 million to individuals and a women-led business group across Kenya under its Dear Mogo community uplift campaign, providing relief to households and small enterprises grappling with post-festive season financial pressure.

The campaign invited Kenyans to share their challenges and achievements in 2025, their aspirations for 2026, and the kind of support they needed to move forward. Participants shared their stories on social media using the hashtag #DearMogo, drawing attention to the financial strain many families face at the beginning of the year.

Following the initiative, 12 individuals and one women-led boda boda business group—Team Tujijenge Women Group—benefited from the Sh1 million support, which was distributed in cash and shopping vouchers. Beneficiaries received between Sh30,000 and Sh70,000, with most of the funds used to pay school fees and rent, expenses that often peak in January.

Mogo’s Head of Brand, Becky Ngigi, said the campaign was designed to recognise the resilience of Kenyans and reassure them during challenging economic times.

“The Dear Mogo campaign was created to appreciate Kenyans for their hard work, listen to our customers, and reassure them that Mogo is walking with them even during difficult economic times,” Ngigi said.

She added that Mogo’s community engagement extends beyond financing, noting that the company also supports financial literacy programmes and social initiatives addressing issues such as early pregnancies.

“Mogo continues to improve community welfare not only by offering affordable logbook loans, boda boda and tuk tuk financing, but also through initiatives that support long-term financial well-being,” she said, adding that thorough background checks were carried out to ensure the funds reached deserving beneficiaries.

One of the beneficiaries, John Odhiambo from Chokaa along Kangundo Road in Nairobi, received Sh150,000 to revive his creative business, Scratch Productions, after it was grounded by the theft of equipment during an armed robbery.

Another beneficiary, Claire Kalani, a single mother facing health challenges, received support to clear her daughter’s school fees for the year, easing the burden of mounting medical bills and allowing the family to focus on recovery.

Mogo said the Dear Mogo campaign reflects its continued commitment to empowering communities, supporting livelihoods and promoting sustainable financial well-being across Kenya.
