Mohamed Salah Makes History with Third PFA Player of the Year Award After Sensational Season
Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has been named the 2025 PFA Men’s Player of the Year, becoming the first player in history to win the prestigious award three times.
The 33-year-old Egyptian international delivered a standout season, scoring 29 goals and providing 18 assists, helping Arne Slot’s Liverpool side clinch the 2024/25 Premier League title in dominant fashion.
Salah, who was also the league’s top scorer, received overwhelming support in the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) vote, confirming his place among the game’s greats.
The latest honour adds to his third Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year award, earned earlier this year, equalling the record previously held by legends like Thierry Henry.
Reflecting on his journey from Nagrig, Egypt, to global football stardom, Salah said:
“Of course I wanted to be a football player and be famous, to provide for my family, but when you’re still in Egypt, you don’t think about the big stuff.
When you grow, you start to see things differently — you start to have ambition, and you start to see the bigger picture.”
Salah wasn’t the only Liverpool player recognized. He is joined in the 2024/25 PFA Premier League Team of the Year by teammates:
- Virgil van Dijk
- Ryan Gravenberch
- Alexis Mac Allister
- Milos Kerkez (who joined from Bournemouth last summer)
Also featured in the XI are Arsenal trio William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhães, and Declan Rice. Notably, Cole Palmer (Chelsea) and Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United), both shortlisted for the main award, missed out on final team selection.
Salah’s landmark achievement further solidifies his legacy not just at Liverpool, but in Premier League history — a true icon of the modern game.
