Mongolia Launches E-Visas to Boost Tourism Sector
Mongolia’s Immigration Agency has announced the full rollout of electronic visas across all categories, as part of the government’s push to enhance service delivery and attract more foreign visitors.
The agency confirmed on Thursday that all 54 visa categories, which are issued based on inviter requests, are now available electronically. This new system aims to simplify visa procedures for both personal and official visits to Mongolia.
The introduction of e-visas is seen as a crucial step in supporting the development of Mongolia’s tourism industry. Foreigners can now submit visa applications directly through the immigration department’s official website.
While Mongolia’s economy is heavily reliant on mineral exports, the government is prioritizing tourism as a key sector to diversify its economy and increase global competitiveness.
Since the partial introduction of e-visas in 2021, over 110,000 electronic visas have been issued, according to the immigration agency.
