Morocco Breaks Up Terror Cell Operating Across Four Cities
Moroccan security forces have dismantled a six-member terrorist cell operating across multiple regions, authorities announced on Tuesday.
According to the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ), the suspects were arrested in coordinated raids carried out in Casablanca, Kenitra, Sidi Taïbi, and the Dar El Gueddari area in Sidi Kacem province.
Investigators said the group financed its activities through organized crime, using theft and money laundering to support extremist operations. The suspects allegedly targeted livestock farms near Kenitra and Sidi Slimane, reselling stolen animals in markets across the Safi and Sidi Bennour regions.
Security operations conducted on April 5 and 6 led to the seizure of extremist materials, bladed weapons, and cash believed to be linked to criminal activity. Authorities also recovered tools used in the raids, including a motorcycle, two vans, and disguises such as gloves and a balaclava.
The BCIJ, which operates under Morocco’s General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), confirmed that all suspects remain in custody.
The case is being handled under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office specializing in terrorism and extremism, as investigators work to determine the full scope of the network and identify any additional collaborators.
