Mother Mourns Newborn Lost to Childbirth Complications, Questions Church Doctrine That Discourages Medical Care

A heartbroken mother has shared her painful story of losing her newborn baby—blaming her church’s strict anti-medical doctrine for the tragic outcome.

In a now-viral video, the woman recounted how she was raised in a religious community that forbids the use of medicine, hospitals, or even basic prenatal care. Having grown up in this belief system, she never questioned the doctrine—until her own pregnancy took a dangerous turn.

She revealed that she avoided antenatal check-ups, refused prenatal vitamins, and stayed away from hospitals during the early months of her pregnancy. However, as her third trimester progressed, she began feeling severely ill and fatigued.

Breaking with her church’s teachings, she eventually sought medical help in secret and was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia—a life-threatening condition that can cause serious complications for both mother and baby if left untreated.

When she told her husband about the diagnosis, he became angry that she had defied church rules. Her family and in-laws reportedly supported his reaction, urging her to “trust in faith” rather than medical intervention.

The situation became critical when she lost consciousness late one night. She was rushed to the hospital, where doctors insisted on an emergency Caesarean section due to dangerously high blood pressure. Though her husband initially resisted treatment, he eventually consented to the surgery—but continued to blame her for going against their beliefs.

The baby was born with complications and placed in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). After a month of struggling for life, the child tragically passed away.

Now, the grieving mother says she is being blamed by her husband and his family, who accuse her of causing the loss through a “lack of faith.” But she believes the opposite is true—and is now questioning the very foundation of the faith that she says cost her child’s life.

“I gave everything to that church, to those teachings,” she said tearfully in the video. “But when I needed help the most, what they gave me was silence, shame, and loss.”

Her story has sparked widespread discussion online, with many viewers expressing sympathy and calling for more awareness about the dangers of faith-based restrictions on medical care—especially for women.
