A 34-year-old woman and her two young daughters tragically died after allegedly jumping into a river in Pulikunnu near Ettumanoor, India, around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15.

The deceased were identified as Jis Mol Thomas, a lawyer and former vice-president of the Mutholi Panchayat (2019–2020), and her daughters—five-year-old Neha and two-year-old Ponnu.

According to preliminary reports, Jis Mol arrived at the riverbank with her daughters on a motorbike and entered the river via a bathing ghat.

Locals were alerted when they saw a body floating in the water. A search followed, during which residents recovered the remaining two bodies.

Police arrived at the scene and transported the bodies for autopsy.

Early investigations suggest marital discord may have driven the suspected suicide. Jis Mol’s husband, Jimmy Thonnanmavunkal, is a bus operator on the Kottayam–Ayarkunnam route.

Authorities have registered a case of unnatural death and further inquiries are ongoing.
