MTN Donates N1 Billion and 4,600 Digital Devices to Support FG’s Education and Food Programmes
Vice President Kashim Shettima has praised MTN Nigeria for its generous donation of N1 billion to the Federal Government’s Food Support Programme and the provision of 4,600 digital devices for distribution to schools across the nation.
During a courtesy visit to the Presidential Villa on Friday, where he received MTN Nigeria’s Chairman, Mr. Ernest Ndukwe, Shettima commended the telecommunications giant for its unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s economic development.
“I am immensely proud of MTN’s stability as a company and its dedication to our nation’s progress. Despite various industry changes, you have remained steadfast and strong. On behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I sincerely thank you for this significant contribution,” Shettima stated.
The Vice President assured that the donation would be carefully managed by the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, alongside the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
Regarding the distribution of the 4,600 digital devices, each equipped with the U-lesson application, Shettima noted that MTN would collaborate with his office to establish criteria for selecting beneficiaries and ensure the devices reach secondary schools across the six geo-political zones.
He expressed confidence that MTN’s support would significantly bolster the government’s efforts to alleviate hardship in the country, particularly by addressing educational needs among the poor and vulnerable.
In his remarks, Mr. Ndukwe commended the Federal Government for its initiatives aimed at revitalizing the nation’s economy, highlighting the efforts of various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in this regard.
