Elon Musk has announced that his artificial intelligence startup, xAI, is acquiring his social media platform, X, in a deal that values the company—formerly known as Twitter—at $33 billion.
Musk described the acquisition as a strategic move to integrate xAI’s advanced artificial intelligence capabilities with X’s vast user base, which exceeds 600 million.
“This combination will unlock immense potential by blending xAI’s advanced AI capability and expertise with X’s massive reach,” Musk stated in a post on X.
According to Musk, the future of X is “intertwined” with that of xAI, which he launched two years ago. He emphasized that the merger would enable both companies to leverage their combined data, models, computing power, distribution, and talent.
“This will allow us to build a platform that doesn’t just reflect the world but actively accelerates human progress,” he added.
