NAF Airstrikes Eliminate Terrorists, Destroy 25 Illegal Refineries
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has conducted successful airstrikes targeting terrorists in Kaduna and Zamfara states, resulting in multiple eliminations and the destruction of 25 illegal refining sites in Imo and Rivers States.
According to AVM Edward Gabkwet, Director of Public Relations and Information for NAF, the recent strikes were part of Operation Whirl Punch. The mission aimed to disrupt terrorist activities following a surge in attacks, abductions, and cattle rustling.
Gabkwet revealed that intelligence tracked the terrorists from Niger’s Alawa Forest to Malum Forest in Kaduna. An airstrike on August 21 targeted their stronghold, with several terrorists reportedly eliminated. Similar strikes were executed on hideouts in Bayan Ruwa, Zamfara.
In the Niger Delta, the air component of Operation Delta Safe destroyed 25 illegal refining sites and overhead tanks in Imo’s Ohaji/Egbema and Rivers’ Degema and Cawthorne Channel.
Additionally, a pipeline leak in Greenville, Rivers, spread over a 150-meter radius, damaging local vegetation, aquatic habitats, and farmlands.
