NAF Destroys 13 Illegal Refining Sites in Niger Delta
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has conducted a series of airstrikes that resulted in the destruction of 13 illegal oil refining sites in the Niger Delta region. This operation was part of the Air Component of Operation Delta Safe’s efforts to combat the ongoing activities of oil thieves and economic saboteurs.
In a statement released on Sunday in Abuja, NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, disclosed that the operation also led to the destruction of 10 overhead tanks and numerous gallons of illegally refined petroleum products.
Gabkwet emphasized that the airstrikes were aimed at curbing the activities of those who engage in the illegal siphoning of crude oil and the vandalism of oil pipelines. He noted that the air component had significantly increased its patrol efforts, particularly within the Niger Delta, to identify and eliminate illegal refining sites.
