The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced a 100 per cent increase in the Ration Cash Allowance (RCA) for its personnel, raising the daily allowance from N1,500 to N3,000.

Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, made the announcement during the commissioning of newly completed accommodation blocks at the Sam Ethnan Air Force Base in Lagos.

According to Abubakar, the increment was captured in the 2025 national budget and forms part of proactive measures by the force to cushion the effects of rising living costs on troops.

“In the meantime, a 100 per cent increment in the Ration Cash Allowance for 2025 has already been established as a proactive measure to support personnel amid rising living costs,” he said.

In addition to the allowance increase, Abubakar also revealed an enhancement in the personnel insurance scheme through a newly introduced Group Personnel Accident Insurance Policy, aimed at providing better financial protection for airmen and women.

He further disclosed that discussions are ongoing with the Defence Headquarters to review the Armed Forces Manual of Financial Administration, with the goal of improving the overall welfare structure for military personnel across the services.

The CAS reiterated his administration’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare and morale of officers and airmen as part of ongoing reforms within the Air Force.
