The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reaffirmed its resolve to sustain decisive airpower in support of the Joint Task Force, Operation HADIN KAI, to consolidate operational gains and strengthen stability across the North-East.

The Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Aneke, represented by the Chief of Operations, AVM PN Amadi, stated this during an operational visit to Maiduguri.

This is contained in a statement by the Director Public Relations and Information, NAF, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, on Thursday in Abuja.

Aneke said the NAF would maintain persistent air presence and precision strikes to give joint forces a critical operational advantage in the theatre.

He said the NAF remained focused on delivering precision air effects to sustain operational superiority across the theatre.

“As part of our mandate, the Nigerian Air Force will maintain persistent air presence, deliver precision effects and provide the critical advantage required for joint forces to dominate the battlespace,” he said.

The air chief also visited the Headquarters Theatre Command of Operation HADIN KAI in Maiduguri to strengthen coordination and integration with ground forces.

According to Aneke, coordinated air-ground operations have continued to constrain insurgent activities and sustain the momentum required to restore peace and stability in the region.

The engagements coincided with recent precision air strikes in the Sambisa Forest general area on March 11 which destroyed four hostile gun trucks and logistics assets following credible intelligence and sustained surveillance.

The air strikes, he said, further disrupted insurgents’ mobility and demonstrated the effectiveness of intelligence-driven airpower in ongoing security operations.

Aneke reiterated that the NAF would continue to dominate the air domain, protect civilians and support joint forces in consolidating gains towards lasting national security.

During the visit, the Air Component and the 105 Composite Group presented operational and base defence briefings highlighting the base’s preparedness to sustain high-tempo joint operations.

Earlier, the Air Officer Commanding Tactical Air Command, AVM MC Ekwueme, also visited the Maiduguri base to boost the morale of personnel and reaffirm the service’s commitment to operational excellence.
