Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has opened up about his decision to reject a €200 million bid from Paris Saint-Germain for star forwards Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

In an interview with Corriere della Sera, De Laurentiis admitted he now regrets turning down the massive offer, citing complications surrounding Kvaratskhelia’s contract renewal.

“I had to let him [Kvaratskhelia] go because his agent was threatening to invoke Article 17,” De Laurentiis said, referring to the FIFA clause that allows players to terminate their contracts under certain conditions.

The Napoli chief explained that after Kvaratskhelia’s breakout debut season, the club attempted to secure a contract extension with an improved salary. However, negotiations stalled due to tensions with the player’s agent, Mamuka Jugeli.

“His agent had other plans. He claimed Cristiano Giuntoli promised money that was never paid. It was a lie, and we could easily prove it,” De Laurentiis added.

According to the 76-year-old, PSG made a €200 million package offer for both Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia. Despite the financial appeal, he chose to honor a prior promise made to Napoli’s head coach Antonio Conte.

“I gave my word to Conte that I would keep them, and I didn’t want to go back on that. But with that money, we had planned to bring in Gyökeres,” he revealed.
