The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended two businessmen, Ihejirika Okechukwu Emmanuel and Iwuagwu Ikedi Victory, along with a Canada-based nurse, Usman Grace Khadijat Olami, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos for attempted drug smuggling.
Ihejirika, a frequent traveler, was arrested on October 15, 2024, while attempting to board a flight to Thailand. A body scan revealed he had ingested cocaine, leading to the recovery of 400 grams of the drug. Iwuagwu, arriving from Brazil, was intercepted on October 17, 2024, after ingesting 30 wraps of cocaine.
Usman was arrested earlier on October 4, 2024, with 70 parcels of Canadian Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, weighing 35.7 kg. According to NDLEA’s media director, Femi Babafemi, all suspects face prosecution.
Additionally, the agency reported significant drug seizures at Lagos and Rivers seaports worth over ₦7 billion, alongside arrests in other states as part of its ongoing war against drug abuse.
