NDLEA Seizes 60 Bags of Ghanaian Cannabis in Lagos Drug Bust

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) intercepted 60 jumbo bags of Ghanaian Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, weighing 2,400 kg in Lagos. The operation occurred along the Lagos waterways, disrupting an attempt to smuggle the drugs from Ghana to Nigeria.

NDLEA Chairman, retired Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa, praised the agency’s Marine Command during a ceremony in Abuja, where eight officers were decorated with new ranks and commendation letters for their bravery and professionalism. Marwa lauded their commitment in intercepting canoes and boats despite resistance from traffickers.

Marwa emphasized that the successful operation highlights the agency’s effectiveness in curbing drug trafficking, even as smugglers seek alternative routes through waterways. A suspect from Ghana was arrested, and the seized boat, equipped with three outboard engines, was impounded.

The NDLEA chief noted that the agency’s ongoing reforms and reward system, including special promotions and commendations, continue to motivate officers to deliver exceptional results. The decorated officers vowed to maintain their dedication to keeping Nigeria’s waterways free from drug trafficking.
