The ECOWAS Court of Justice has elected Justice Ricardo Gonçalves of Cape Verde as its new President, alongside Justice Sengu Koroma of Sierra Leone as Vice President.
Both will serve a non-renewable four-year term.
The new leadership was inaugurated by Guinea-Bissau’s President Umaro Embalo, a former Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State.
Gonçalves takes over from Justice Edward Asante, who led the court for six years, while Koroma succeeds Justice Gberi-bè Ouattara of Ivory Coast as Vice President.
