The Ebonyi Command of the Nigeria Forest Security Services (NFSS) has trained 2,000 of its personnel on information and intelligence management as part of efforts to strengthen security operations across the state.

The training workshop, held in Abakaliki, was organised in collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS) under the theme “Intelligence-Driven Operation.”

Declaring the workshop open, the Ebonyi State Commander of NFSS, Mr. Larry Igwe, commended the large turnout of personnel and stressed the importance of discipline, diligence and proactiveness in modern security operations.

He urged officers to remain committed to professionalism and integrity in order to earn public trust.

“You are expected to perform optimally and increase your capacity to handle complex tasks after this security summit,” Igwe said.

“You must never compromise the profession in any form. Do not allow bribery and corruption to hijack your conscience from serving compassionately. Your appearance must always send warning signals to criminals to desist from criminality.”

Igwe also commended Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, for providing an enabling environment for the training and praised the DSS for strengthening the security knowledge and operational capacity of NFSS personnel.

He reaffirmed the service’s commitment to maintaining a strong security presence across the state to combat crime and enhance public safety.

Participants, Mr. Patrick Egwu and Ms. Nnenna Ali, described the training as professional and impactful, calling for regular retraining programmes to further improve operational effectiveness.

They also appealed to President Bola Tinubu to fast-track the inclusion of the NFSS into Nigeria’s formal national security structure.
