Nigeria Condemns Terrorist Attack on Mali’s Military Airport
The Federal Government of Nigeria has condemned the recent terrorist attack on a military airport in Bamako, Mali.
In a statement released on Saturday, Ambassador Eche Abu-Obe, the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed Nigeria’s position on the tragic incident, which occurred on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024.
“The Federal Republic of Nigeria strongly condemns the abominable terrorist attack targeting a military airport, training center, and other sensitive locations in Bamako, Mali,” Eche stated. “This heinous act, which claimed lives and destroyed several military aircraft, is a stark reminder of the ongoing threat posed by extremist groups in the region.”
He emphasized that acts of terrorism, irrespective of their location, pose a serious threat to regional peace and security.
Nigeria extended its deepest condolences to the Malian government and its people, especially to the families affected by the loss. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this tragic incident,” the statement concluded.
