The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has said the Nigerian Army is repositioning itself to confront 21st century security challenges by placing technology at the centre of its operations.

Shaibu made this known on Tuesday in Abuja while declaring open the Directorate of Inspections and Compliance Project Inspections Workshop 2026.

Represented by the Chief of Logistics, Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Adekunle Adeyinka, the COAS described the workshop, themed “Leveraging Technology: Panacea for Enhanced Inspection and Compliance,” as timely and appropriate, noting that it reflects the Army’s strategic direction towards modernisation.

He said the theme encapsulates the Nigerian Army’s future battle plan, stressing that the adoption of a technology-driven approach to inspection and compliance would strengthen transparency, accountability and operational readiness.

According to him, the deployment of digital inspection platforms, real-time reporting systems and data analytics would not only enhance performance but also promote standardisation and institutional learning within the Army.
