Nigerian Navy Distributes Educational Materials to Bayelsa School Students
The Nigerian Navy Outpost in Koluama, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, has donated educational materials to over 150 students of Government Secondary School, Fishtown.
The Commanding Officer of Naval Outpost Koluama II, Commander Stephen Agwai, led the initiative, highlighting the Navy’s commitment to fostering a positive relationship with the civilian community.
During the donation event, which included items such as exercise books, calculators, mathematical sets, and other writing materials, Commander Agwai emphasized the importance of nurturing young minds and empowering future leaders. He stated, “Education is not just about classrooms and textbooks; it is about fostering curiosity, igniting passion, and opening doors of opportunity.”
Commander Agwai reiterated that education is vital for progress and national development, and the Navy recognizes the crucial role it plays in national security and sustainable growth. “Through initiatives like today’s Education Rhapsody, we aim to enhance educational outcomes, promote academic excellence, and cultivate a culture of learning that transcends borders,” he added.
The event also included a career talk, where students were introduced to opportunities within the Armed Forces of Nigeria, particularly the Nigerian Navy, to inspire them to contribute to the nation’s prosperity.
The school’s Head Teacher, Mr. Emmanuel Ebimoboere, expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Navy for their generosity, urging other organizations to follow suit. He acknowledged that the Navy’s intervention has made a significant impact on the future of the students, describing it as a “glorious future” for the children.
