Troops of the Nigerian military have arrested three suspected members of Boko Haram in Balda community, Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State, as part of ongoing counter-terrorism operations.

The arrests were disclosed by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, citing information from security sources.

According to the report, one of the suspects has been identified as John Ado, while the identities of the two others are still being verified. The trio were apprehended on March 29 during military operations targeting insurgent activity in the area.

Security sources said the suspects are believed to be foot soldiers of the extremist group, allegedly linked to attacks in parts of southern Borno State. During preliminary interrogation, they reportedly admitted to acting as collectors of looted items rather than participating directly in combat.

“They confessed to handling items recovered during recent attacks in Ngoshe, instead of engaging on the frontlines,” a source said.

Further intelligence obtained from the suspects suggests that insurgent leaders had planned an ആക്രമment on a military barracks in Mubi, with the aim of seizing explosives.

The plot allegedly included plans to use the explosives to destroy a bridge over the River Benue in Yola, in a bid to disrupt movement and economic activities in the region.

Security agencies have not yet issued an official statement on the arrests, but operations in the area are said to be ongoing.
