Nigerian Woman Caught with N254m Worth of Cocaine in India
A 34-year-old Nigerian woman, Yenna Christina Idowu, has been arrested in Mumbai, India, for possession of cocaine valued at over ₦254 million.
Idowu, a resident of Noida, New Delhi, was apprehended around 3:00 a.m. on Monday, June 30, by officers of the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) who noticed her suspicious behavior in the Old MHADA area of Andheri West.
Following a search conducted in the presence of a female officer, authorities recovered 30 capsules containing 418 grams of cocaine from her bag. The illicit substance is estimated to be worth ₹1.42 crore (approximately ₦254 million).
During interrogation, the suspect disclosed that she hails from Ondo State, Nigeria, but currently resides in Noida, India.
Indian authorities have launched a full-scale investigation to trace the drug network, including identifying the source of the narcotics and the intended recipients.
A formal case has been registered under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Idowu remains in police custody as investigations continue.
