The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a three-day weather outlook predicting sustained sunshine, cloudy conditions and varying levels of dust haze across different parts of the country from Monday to Wednesday.

According to the forecast released on Sunday in Abuja, the northern region will experience predominantly sunny skies on Monday, while the central region will see sunny intervals mixed with patches of clouds.

NiMet added that the southern region will witness a cloudy atmosphere with periods of sunshine, alongside slim chances of isolated thunderstorms in parts of Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa and Cross River in the afternoon and evening.

On Tuesday, dust haze is expected to settle over Kebbi, Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina, Kano, Jigawa, Borno and Yobe throughout the day. The central region will maintain sunny skies with isolated cloud patches, while the southern region is forecast to remain cloudy with isolated thunderstorms expected over Cross River in the morning.

Later in the day, thunderstorms are also likely across parts of Delta, Ogun, Ondo, Lagos, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River.

The weather agency said the northern region will continue to experience dust haze on Wednesday, with the central region expected to remain sunny and hazy. In the south, cloudy conditions will dominate the morning hours before isolated thunderstorms accompanied by moderate rainfall develop later in the day in Lagos, Ondo, Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Ekiti, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Cross River, Akwa Ibom and Rivers.

NiMet advised motorists to exercise caution when driving in rainy conditions and warned residents in the north about dust particles likely to be suspended in the atmosphere.

It also urged people with asthma and respiratory challenges to take necessary precautions.

“Airline operators are advised to obtain airport-specific weather reports from NiMet for effective planning,” the agency stated, adding that the public should stay updated by visiting its website: www.nimet.gov.ng.
