The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecasted a mix of dust haze and rain across various regions in Nigeria from Monday to Wednesday.

According to NiMet’s weather outlook released on Sunday in Abuja, slight dust haze with reduced visibility between 2 km and 5 km is expected across the northern and North Central regions on Monday. In the southern areas, sunny skies and a hazy atmosphere are anticipated inland, with potential thunderstorms and light rains over parts of Lagos, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River in the morning, extending to southern Ondo, Ogun, Lagos, Edo, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Delta states by evening.

The agency also predicted similar conditions for Tuesday, with slight dust haze expected in the North and hazy skies with patches of clouds over coastal southern areas. By Wednesday, dust haze will persist in the northern and North Central regions, while southern areas may experience sunny and hazy skies inland and cloud cover along the coast. Thunderstorms with moderate rain are anticipated over Lagos, Cross River, Rivers, Bayelsa, and Akwa Ibom in the later part of the day.

NiMet advised people with respiratory conditions, such as asthma, to take precautions due to dust in the air. It also warned of strong winds that may accompany thunderstorms, urging the public to stay alert and follow safety advisories. Airline operators are encouraged to consult NiMet for airport-specific weather updates for flight planning.
