NIS Comptroller General Reaffirms Commitment to Enhancing E-Border Security, Migration Management

The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nandap, has reiterated her commitment to strengthening e-border security and improving migration management across Nigeria.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the NIS Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Udo, on Saturday in Abuja. Nandap emphasized these goals during a border assessment tour of Lagos and Ogun states, aimed at reinforcing collective responsibility for securing Nigeria’s borders and advancing migration protocols.

She highlighted the need for cooperation among key stakeholders to combat trans-border crimes effectively. As part of her tour, Nandap met with important figures, including the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Babatunde Osuolale Aremu Akiolu, and Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to discuss border security initiatives.

During her visit to Seme Border and the Idiroko command, Nandap updated officers on new immigration strategies designed to modernize Nigeria’s border security infrastructure. She reaffirmed her commitment to improving officers’ welfare and capacity building, urging them to uphold professionalism in their duties.

Nandap also stressed the crucial role of border communities in supporting national security, emphasizing the NIS’s commitment to implementing digital strategies for enhanced border governance.

In Lagos, Governor Sanwo-Olu pledged support for NIS initiatives aimed at easing personnel operations. Nandap also participated in a joint security meeting with other agencies, focused on enhancing collaboration in intelligence gathering and sharing.

The tour concluded in Ogun State, where Nandap met with traditional rulers, including the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo III, and the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Prof. Saka Adeola Matemilola. She also engaged with the Ogun State Deputy Governor, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, to discuss logistical support and land provisions for constructing new barracks.
