The Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG) has reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment through the expansion of its specialised skills acquisition initiative under the Train 7 Project.
Mr. Dagogo Buowari, Manager of Nigerian Content Development at NLNG, made this known at the launch of the Train 7 Human Capital Development (HCD) Basic Training Supplementary Programme, according to a statement issued on Friday in Port Harcourt by Mrs. Anne-Marie Palmer-Ikuku, NLNG’s Manager, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs.
Addressing the latest beneficiaries of the programme, Buowari described the initiative as a critical component of the company’s broader strategy to promote Nigerian Content and equip young Nigerians with practical, in-demand skills.
“This initiative further strengthens NLNG’s role in supporting Nigerian Content development, particularly within the ongoing Train 7 Project,” Buowari stated.
“We are proud to sustain this momentum in collaboration with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), which continues to drive human capital development across Nigeria.”
He explained that the supplementary training programme expands on the existing HCD Basic Training Programme and introduces two distinct learning pathways tailored to meet the diverse needs of participants.
The training, he said, combines structured classroom instruction with field-based, hands-on experience, guided by a well-designed curriculum and measurable milestones to ensure participants gain both theoretical knowledge and practical technical competence.
“Beyond technical training, the programme is structured to comprehensively support the personal and professional growth of each participant,” he added.
Buowari noted that trainees would enjoy access to healthcare through the Reliance Health Maintenance Organisation (HMO) during the programme’s duration. They will also benefit from mentorship schemes, with experienced professionals in the oil and gas industry offering guidance and support.
In addition, the company will provide counselling and emotional wellness resources, regular performance evaluations, and career guidance sessions, all aimed at producing not just skilled workers, but well-rounded professionals equipped to thrive in competitive work environments.
“The support mechanisms underscore NLNG’s commitment to both skill acquisition and the development of well-rounded professionals who can excel in dynamic and challenging work environments,” he said.
Buowari encouraged the trainees to take full advantage of the opportunity, emphasizing the long-term benefits for both their personal and family livelihoods.
Nigeria’s LNG Train 7 Project is a key component of the country’s strategy to raise its liquefied natural gas production to 30 million tonnes per annum, with a strong focus on local content and workforce development.
