In a significant move to bolster Nigeria’s energy landscape, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) and Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals have reaffirmed their commitment to deepen collaboration in pursuit of energy security and shared prosperity for Nigerians.
The pledge was made during a courtesy visit by the President/Chief Executive of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, to the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd., Mr. Bashir Ojulari, at the NNPC Towers in Abuja, where he also met with the company’s senior management team.
According to a statement released on Friday by Olufemi Soneye, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd., the meeting emphasized the importance of promoting partnerships that are mutually beneficial and encourage healthy competition within the sector.
Dangote assured the new NNPC leadership of his group’s readiness to work closely with the national oil company to safeguard Nigeria’s energy future.
“There is no competition between us, we are not here to compete with NNPC Ltd. NNPC is part and parcel of our business and we are also part of NNPC,” Dangote said. “This is an era of cooperation between the two organisations.”
He also extended his congratulations to Ojulari and his team on their appointments, acknowledging the weight of responsibility they now bear. Dangote expressed optimism about their capacity to deliver, noting the depth of expertise available within NNPC Ltd.
Responding, Ojulari welcomed Dangote’s remarks and emphasized NNPC’s openness to a “mutually beneficial partnership anchored on healthy competition and productive collaboration.”
He lauded the workforce of NNPC Ltd. as “dedicated, highly skilled and hardworking professionals who are consistently keen on delivering value for Nigeria,” and expressed a strong commitment to building “a legacy of national prosperity through innovation and shared purpose.”
Ojulari also affirmed that NNPC would maintain its collaboration with the Dangote Group, particularly in areas that present a commercial advantage for Nigeria.
Both executives agreed to serve as relationship managers for their respective organizations, with a focus on sustained collaboration and competition that opens up limitless opportunities for both entities.
