The Nigerian film industry, Nollywood, marked another major achievement with the 2nd edition of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) International Festival, themed “Nollywood Meets Hollywood.”

The event, held at Dream Magic Studio in Los Angeles, brought together luminaries from both industries, including representatives from the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), casting directors, entertainment executives, and members of the Nigerian community in Hollywood.

AGN President Emeka Rollas hailed the festival as a groundbreaking success aimed at fostering cultural and cinematic collaboration between Nollywood and Hollywood. “This is a significant move to bridge cultural and cinematic divides,” Rollas stated.

Key discussions during the event focused on integrating Nollywood into SAG-AFTRA’s networks for casting, production, and global distribution. Areas of collaboration included co-productions, capacity building, royalties, and facilitating broader access to Nollywood content for international audiences.

Will Bensussen, SAG-AFTRA’s Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel, pledged ongoing support for AGN members. He emphasized the immense talent Nollywood brings to the global stage and expressed optimism about the potential for mutually beneficial partnerships.

“This partnership opens doors to unique opportunities for filmmakers and actors from both industries to thrive in a global creative ecosystem,” Rollas added.

As this collaboration evolves, audiences worldwide can anticipate innovative storytelling and diverse cultural representation, blending the best of Nollywood and Hollywood.
