Nollywood Suspends Taye Arimoro After Investigation into On-Set Clash with Peggy Ovire
Nollywood actor Taye Arimoro has been suspended from the Nigerian film industry following an investigation into his on-set altercation with actress and filmmaker Peggy Ovire.
The decision was jointly announced by Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) president Emeka Rollas, alongside the Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN) and the Association of Movie Producers (AMP). The guilds said their findings warranted Arimoro’s suspension after reviewing the incident that occurred during Ovire’s movie production.
Arimoro had previously taken to social media to accuse Ovire and her team of assault, alleging that his car tyres were deflated and his exit was blocked on her instructions. He also shared photos showing injuries to his mouth, claiming he was attacked for attempting to leave the set.
The guilds’ ruling has sparked widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians criticizing the decision and questioning the fairness of the process.
Further details of the investigation were not disclosed in the joint statement.
