NSA Ribadu Slams Canada Over Visa Denial for Military Chiefs

National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu has strongly criticized Canada for denying visas to top Nigerian military officials, including the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa.

Speaking at the maiden annual lecture of the National Association of the Institute for Security Studies (AANISS) at the Shehu Yar’adua Centre in Abuja, Ribadu expressed his frustration over the incident, declaring, “They can go to hell.”

The visa denial came after General Musa and his delegation were invited to Canada for an event honoring war veterans. However, only part of the team was granted visas, while the rest, including the CDS, were refused entry.

General Musa described the situation as “disappointing” but emphasized the need for Nigeria to remain resilient.

“Every disappointment is a blessing. Yesterday, I was meant to be in Canada for an event honoring our veterans—those injured in battle. Half of our team was allowed in, and half was denied. It’s very disappointing,” he said.

Ribadu commended the CDS for addressing the issue publicly, reiterating Nigeria’s strength and self-sufficiency despite diplomatic challenges.

“Thank you for the courage to say Canada denied you visas. They can go to hell,” Ribadu stated.

Despite the setback, the NSA reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to national security, commending General Musa’s leadership in the fight against terrorism, banditry, and other security threats.
