Osimhen Rejects Saudi Offer, Eyes Premier League Move
#Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has signaled interest in a potential Premier League move after turning down a lucrative £25.3 million-a-year offer from Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal.
The Nigerian forward, who spent last season on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, reportedly declined the offer despite Al-Hilal agreeing to activate his €75 million (£63.2 million) release clause—an amount applicable to clubs outside Serie A.
According to Football Italia, the 26-year-old prefers to remain in Europe. After scoring an impressive 37 goals in 41 matches during his time in Turkey, Osimhen has attracted interest from several top clubs, including Manchester United and Barcelona.
Al-Hilal had targeted Osimhen for their upcoming FIFA Club World Cup campaign but failed to convince the striker, who is currently evaluating his options for the summer transfer window.
Speaking to the BBC, Eric Chelle, manager of Mali’s national team and a close observer of Osimhen’s career, praised the striker’s talent and acknowledged the pressure he faced last season.
“Victor is, for me, the best striker in the world,” Chelle said. “It’s difficult for him to focus right now because of the transfer speculation. Maybe it’s Manchester United, or Chelsea, or even Real Madrid. He needs to stay focused.”
Napoli are reportedly open to selling Osimhen this summer, and the Premier League appears to be a likely destination as interest continues to grow.
