The United States added more than 1,000 new dollar millionaires every day in 2024, totaling over 379,000 for the year, according to the newly released 2025 Global Wealth Report by UBS.

The surge in U.S. wealth helped push global net worth up by 4.6% in 2024, with the Americas leading regional growth at over 11%. Analysts attribute the spike to a stable U.S. dollar and robust performance in financial markets, which created favorable conditions for asset growth.

According to the report, the United States continues to hold its position as the global epicenter of wealth, now accounting for nearly 40% of the world’s total millionaires.

While the U.S. dominated among high-net-worth individuals, Greater China—including mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan—led the world in the mid-tier wealth bracket, defined as those with a net worth between $100,000 and $1 million. This group represented 28.2% of global mid-tier wealth holders, followed by Western Europe (25.4%) and North America (20.9%).

Despite the increase in global wealth, the report found that more than 80% of adults worldwide still have a net worth below $100,000. Only 1.6% of the global adult population are millionaires.

UBS forecasts continued gains over the next five years, with average wealth per adult expected to rise, particularly in the United States and Greater China.

The report reflects a rebound from the economic downturn of 2022, with wealth growth now concentrated in economically resilient regions benefiting from strong equity markets and favorable currency trends.
