Morocco’s Directorate General of National Security (DGSN) has announced the promotion of 10,393 police officers, including 466 women, during the 2024 fiscal year.
This represents an unprecedented 68% of eligible candidates receiving promotions, a significant increase compared to previous years.
According to the DGSN, 7,005 uniformed officers and 3,388 plainclothes officers were promoted. The promotions particularly benefitted lower and middle ranks, with 3,564 officers elevated to police brigadier, 1,269 to chief brigadier, and 1,716 to senior police inspector.
The promotion committees employed a rigorous evaluation system based on professional competence, merit, performance, seniority, career path, discipline, and the nature of responsibilities held. The decisions aimed to recognize exceptional contributions while ensuring fairness and transparency.
In its statement, the DGSN highlighted the annual promotions as a key administrative incentive, encouraging officers to maintain high standards of professionalism in safeguarding citizens and their property while enhancing service quality.
This historic milestone underscores Morocco’s commitment to strengthening its security forces and fostering professional growth within the ranks.
