Over 800 Afghan Detainees Released from Pakistani Prisons, Return Home
At least 820 Afghan nationals imprisoned in Pakistan have been released and repatriated over the past week, according to data from Afghanistan’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation.
The returnees crossed into Afghanistan through the Spin Boldak border in Kandahar province, the ministry confirmed on Tuesday.
Millions of Afghans—around 7 million, mostly undocumented—currently reside abroad, with large populations in neighboring Pakistan and Iran.
The Afghan interim government has renewed its call for citizens abroad to return and support national efforts toward rebuilding the country after decades of conflict.
