Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority has extended the nationwide airspace closure for all flights—domestic and international—until 12:00 p.m. (0700 GMT) on Sunday, May 11.

The airspace was initially shut at around 3:15 a.m. (GMT 2215 Friday) and was expected to reopen by Saturday noon. However, the authority announced the extension in a fresh statement just before the initial reopening deadline.

No specific reason was provided for the decision, but officials cited the “current security situation” as the basis for the continued suspension. Airlines have been advised to adjust flight schedules accordingly, and authorities say the situation remains under close observation with further updates to follow.

The closure comes amid heightened regional tensions between Pakistan and India, prompting broader disruptions across South Asian air travel routes.
