Veteran Nigerian artist Paul Play Dairo has revealed that he has not received any royalties since his departure from Kennis Music.

In an interview on the Afrobeats Podcast, the RnB singer opened up about his struggles with the Nigerian music industry and the lack of intellectual property protections.

Paul Play discussed how the terms of his contract with Kennis Music have prevented him from making his music available on streaming platforms. He expressed frustration over the industry’s failure to address royalty payments and copyright issues, which have affected many artists like himself.

He also recounted a legal battle with MTN after the company used his music in an advertisement without consent, leading to public backlash. Paul Play emphasized the ongoing challenges in Nigeria’s music industry, noting that his popular songs, including “Forever,” “Angel of My Life,” and “Mosorire,” have been sampled without permission.

Despite these challenges, Paul Play continues to advocate for stronger intellectual property laws and fair compensation for artists.
