PDP Lacks Grassroots Strength to Win Lagos – Jandor

Former Lagos State governorship candidate under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, says the opposition party stands no chance of winning elections in Lagos due to its weak grassroots presence.

Adediran, who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), made the remark on Saturday after casting his vote in the ongoing local council elections. He voted at Polling Unit 001, Ward D, in the riverine community of Irewe, Ojo Local Government Area.

Speaking to journalists, Jandor said the PDP lacks the grassroots structure necessary to challenge the dominance of the APC in Lagos.

“While in the PDP, we introduced fresh ideas and worked hard, but we couldn’t make progress because the party is hardly known at the grassroots,” he said.

He praised the APC for its widespread reach and enduring grassroots network, adding that the ruling party had become a household name across Lagos communities.

“People like us, with many loyal followers, decided to join the APC to contribute to its legacy rather than remain in an opposition party that lacks structure. I commend President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for laying the solid foundation of APC’s success in Lagos,” Adediran said.

He also lauded the outgoing Ojo Local Government Chairman, Mr. Idowu Rosolu, for his achievements and urged the incoming council leaders to prioritize projects that directly benefit residents.

After voting, Jandor visited the Oba of Irewe Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Oba Abideen Adikanbi Durisimi, the Osolu of Irewe, in a courtesy call.
